In 2015, amidst the growing popularity of volunteerism among youth, the service itself had also grown monotonous. Our founders, seeing passionless volunteers present only for credit and recognition. Not fueled by any larger meaning or objective, they launched an organization driven to provide enriching service opportunities from start to finish: Youth Initiative Vancouver. Through passion, a group of high-school students, along with the support of the Academy of Modern Art, brought this dedication to life, prepared to engage hundreds of youth volunteers in not only giving back to communities but undergoing profound personal growth. Today, the organization continues to operate under the same postulate of moving forward together, gathering youth through initiative, and cultivating leadership and community awareness throughout British Columbia, Canada and beyond.
